Dear Diary: Room Decor

My room is a never ending, viscous cycle of indecisiveness and craziness, with blank pale yellow walls and some furnishings here and there, says my brain.

Have you ever just woken up and thought my room needs a good change around or somehow you are suddenly inspired to redecorate your room and buy new things (excuse for shopping, yes please!) to make your room feel and look better? I am pretty much like that once every two months or whenever I see furnishings I really like or pictures on Pinterest or Instagram or whenever I walk into a bargain store and an Ikea of course.

A current love of mine are the yellow light lanterns that you can hang up around the room. I love the feeling that soft, yellow lights can bring. To me, they’re perfect for the night when you’re almost about to head to sleep, it lets off a calming and soft vibe and isn’t too harsh on the eyes, unlike those blue lights from your computer or your phone.

The only problem is, I have no idea where to put them, well, I do, but it’s just so hard trying to figure out where to run the cables so they aren’t seen and I really don’t want extension cords running everywhere around my room. I love the idea of making my room look nice and dreamy, turning  it into my own safe haven where I can just enjoy being in my own room and get lost in the pretty lights and inspirational writings on the wall. I mean we all need a little pick me up here and there so having some place to be where you feel safe and can just write out your dreams and your goals and all those wishes is a pretty amazing place to be.

I hung up these cute lanterns with teapots and teacups on them, I mean, you know me and my tea goodies, just above my curtains and sort of draped them on top to make it look girlier and I also tied some pink ribbon bows on the curtain tops and butterfly pegs which I think just added a nice decorative touch and brought the cuteness level to a plus one squared. (Teapot lanterns from TYPO at $20 AUD)

My best friend bought these amazing actual leaf stemmed lights for me and I love them so much. They’re lilies and they look so country cool, just imagine having a farm wedding  at night with pretty light hanging on the trees. It’s pretty amazing. I ended up just draping these over the head of my bed and hid the cables behind a canvas I had on my wall. In saying that though, it was a pain and three days just trying to figure out where to put them.
