So I promised a few months ago to blog about Kuu Konjac sponges after I tried it out. It’s been about two months now and I am already in love with these facial cleansing sponges and I will tell you now, it is a definite repurchase kind of product.
I love the fact that these sponges have a history and there’s nothing better than a product that is all natural and comes from something that works and has been around for years and this Konjac sponge has been around for over 1500 years. So what is it might be your question and I was asking the exact same thing two months ago. It is a 100% natural konjac vegetable plant which has been used in Japan as a beauty treatment for their peoples delicate skin, but has also been used for its medicinal properties (just throwing that in there for those non beauty lovers)
These sponges help to gently exfoliate the skin and it doesn’t leave that tight and drying effect you might feel from other cleansers. What I love is that you don’t need any cleanser to use this, the sponges IS your cleanser. All you need is warm water, but your added cleanser isn’t a wrong move either. You use it in a circular motion gently massaging the face and once your done, rinse and hang it up to dry. I don’t recommend hanging it in the bathroom though, a lot of bacteria in there. Leave it to dry and don’t be scared it does shrink and harden when it is dry, but once you activate with water, it’s all good again. You can also sterilise this by putting it into a bowl of water in the microwave for 1 – 2 minutes and the best part of this product is that you can recycle it once your done with it. Fun to know: It actually decomposes over time.
When I was browsing, there were 4 different types of sponges available . One for problematic and acne prone skin, combination skin, dry and sensitive skin and another for all skin types.
I purchased the one for problematic and acne prone skin (black) which contained added bamboo charcoal which is known for removing excess oils. This is particularly great for breakouts, those blackheads and overall just oily skin. It contains activated carbon and minerals meaning that it has natural antioxidants to fight bacteria that causes acne.
With your dry or mature and sensitive skin types (red) this one is great for you as it contains natural french red clay, known for its soothing properties. Particularly great for irritated skin, and also helps to reduce appearance of fine lines and broken capillaries. It also leaves the skin hydrated and rejuvenates dry skin.
For normal to combination skin (light green) it contains added natural french green clay, known for it’s absorbing properties of oils and drawing out toxins all while leaving a nice glow to your skin after. This one is particularly great for tightening pores and revitilising the skin.
For all skin types (white) this one is the all purpose, all rounder sponge, the most simple one of them all. Most suitable for dry and sensitive skins, it helps to balance your skin type and leave your skin refreshed and most of all, clean.
I purchased mine for $6 AUD whilst at IMATS, but its regular retail price is $8.95AUD. I love this product because it is affordable, it lasts about 2 – 3 months taking into account how many times you use it a day ( twice a day for me), it suits all skin types, it’s a 100% natural , it’s good for the environment, easy to use and it won’t break my budget.
I hope this helped answer any questions about this product but of course if you have more, leave a comment.
